Tibetan teachers' exams in Chinese
(Tibet.net) Around 100 college graduates, including many Tibetan students, were reportedly barred from writing their papers in the Tibetan language during an entrance exam for the recruitment of teachers for high and middle schools in Mangra (Chin: Guinan) county in Tsolho (Chin: Hainan) TAP, Qinghai province, on 14 July. According to Tibet.net, the exam was set by Mangra county's Personnel and Organisational Department. The subjects of the exam included the Communist Party of China's (CPC) "Three Represents" and other political issues, as well as the 2008 earthquake in Sichuan province. According to Tibet.net, when the test was announced, candidates were told to use only Chinese and not Tibetan, even though the area is predominantly Tibetan speaking. Thirteen candidates were finally selected and just two were Tibetan. The papers of those students who insisted on using Tibetan were disqualified, sources said.
