Golmud-Lhasa railway to open earlier than planned
(Xinhua; China Tibet News) Chinese officials announced that the Lhasa-Golmud railway will be operational nearly a year earlier than had originally been planned. The first services will depart from Beijing's West Railway Station from 01 July 2006, an official said, adding that key parts of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway had been completed on 12 October 2005.
