14 Tibetans arrested leaving Tibet
(VOA) The Chinese authorities have arrested 14 Tibetans leaving Tibet for India via Nepal. The arrests took place at Dhingri in Shigatse (Chin: Xigaze) prefecture. The exact date of the arrests is not known. However, the Voice of Tibet radio service reports that it was some time at the beginning of October. According to the report, the 14 people, who were part of a group that initially numbered 22, were arrested 23 days after their departure from Lhasa. All the arrested were from Amdo. The 8 Tibetans who managed to escape are under the care of the Tibetan Reception Centre in Nepal.
